Jellybooks Cloud Reader

Many thanks for using the Jellybooks cloud reader. The Jellybooks cloud reader lets you read books directly in your browser. It is based on the open-source Readium 2 standard.

Our prime objective is to provide you the reader with a delightful reading experience.

We also want you, the reader, to trust us. It is our goal to be open and transparent with you. In that spirit, here’s a reminder, in case you didn’t see it earlier: we also collect usage and reading information to help authors and publishers better understand their audience and specifically you, the reader. We always do this (and everything we do) in manner that meets at least the minimum standard set by the privacy laws in each country, a level we endeavour to exceed. Our policy is never to ask for or collect data that is not useful in helping you, the author, or the book’s publisher in creating a better experience. The data we collect is always for the purpose of improving the publishing and reading process. This includes reading and usage data to help us understand if content delights or not.

We do not collect any personal information, and the only cookies simply unite your reading experience by helping us to bring you back to the same page when you next pick up the book. What we do collect is the following reading and usage information:

What link you clicked on (the same ebook or book sample may be distributed through different websites)
What operating system you are using
What browser you use
your geo-IP (city or country where you are located)
if you clicked on the link and opened this ebook sample
how much time you spent reading
which chapters you open
which chapters you finished or how much of those chapters you read
when you start and stop reading
your overall reading time
if you click on a link in the cloud reader, including whether you click on the buy link

We use this data, primarily in aggregate form, but sometimes also at the level of the individual anonymous reader, to build a picture of how interesting or engaging an ebook or ebook sample is. We develop insights for the author or publisher based on this data and advise them of what lessons the data can draw from these insights.

We do not collect any data on your age, gender or other personal data when you use the Jellybooks cloud reader in anonymous mode and we do not combine the data we collect with any personal data from other sources. We focus strictly on reading and engagement data.
